Aug 12, 2011 On a road in Minamisanriku, one of the disaster areas, walking with kids I was doing a tutor for.
Today, March 11th, is the first anniversary of Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami.
I was just loafing around in my bed on this day last year though.
There have been so many things around me over the past year:
I landed in Tokyo with a plane departing just the next day of March 11th, seeing a big column of black smoke from above on the way.
I entered a graduate school there without any entrance ceremonies.
I joined a graduate student's group and met my girlfriend.
I went to Minamisanriku to do some volunteer and tutor jobs.
I moved to Germany to study.
I have experienced a lot of cultural differences over the last six months, which is the first long-stay for me.
I have studied so many things without mother-tongue for the first time.
And now, I am living here in Munich.
I could have done those things even before the disaster if I had got a chance, but this time. I can say that everything happened over the past year changed me a lot, like my perspective on life.
Most of all, I love Japan more than before this day last year.

Ich liebe Japan.
